Nelson Rotary Club - 'Service Above Self'
Nelson Star article submitted by Sheila Hart from Nelson Rotary Club
It was a wonderful and heartwarming surprise to read an article about Ian's ( Ian Comishin, President of Twente Additive Manufacturing ) involvement with the local Rotary Club in the most recent Nelson Star issue.
Rotary -formed in 23 February 1905- was started with the intention of giving space to professionals with different backgrounds exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships. The organization is dedicated to causes that build international relationships, improve lives, and create a better world to support peace efforts and end polio forever.
Ian's personal history with the organization goes back to many decades. In 2020 Ian and his Team at Twente-AM in collaboration with the Nelson Rotary Club installed the first 3D Concrete Printed playground in the world in Nelson's Rosemont Park. The playground's outline follows the silhouette of a kokanee salmon. There will be several 3D concrete printed urban furniture pieces in the park for the enjoyment of the public.
